Glazing Workshops

For 5-week beginner & intermediate students and studio members

Once your pottery has been bisque fired, it's time to bring your creations to life with colour and finish.

Our Glazing Days are designed to give students and members the opportunity to learn, experiment, and gain confidence with glazing in a supportive studio environment.

Drop in between 10am – 4pm

The studio will be fully set up with a wide range of glazes, glazed cylinder samples, and equipment ready for use. You can arrive at any time during the session and work at your own pace.

What you will learn

During your glazing session you'll gain an understanding of:

  • The fundamentals of ceramic glazing

  • How different glazes behave and interact

  • Dip glazing versus brush-on glazing techniques

  • How long to dip your pieces for the desired result

  • Layering and combining glazes for unique effects

  • How different clay bodies influence glaze outcomes

  • How to wipe back your bases verses wax resist

  • Common glazing mistakes and how to avoid them

  • What happens during the glaze firing process

Glazing is one of the most exciting stages of pottery. You will have the opportunity to compare glaze samples, explore colour combinations, and learn how various glazes react with different clay types to create unique finishes.
