Learn to Sew with Confidence, One Project at a Time
Join our welcoming Term 3 Monday Evening Beginner Sewing Class and build real sewing skills over the term in a relaxed, supportive studio with Julie.
This class is perfect if you’re brand new to sewing or want to refresh your basics. You’ll work at your own pace and create a different project every few weeks, learning techniques that you can use again and again.
Projects for Term 3:
Each project will be worked on over a 2-3 week period so you can learn properly and finish to a high standard.
Drawstring Bag – Master straight seams, casings, and make your own drawstring ties
Piped Cushion with Envelope Back – Add piping for a polished edge and create a simple envelope opening. No zips needed!
Cosmetic Bag with Frill – Add a small frill, insert a zip opening, line your bag, and sew neat, boxed corners
Bucket Hat – Learn to work with curves, interfacing, and structure
Skills You will Learn:
Accurate cutting and fabric preparation
Straight stitching, pivoting, and neat seam finishes
Pressing for professional results
Making and inserting piping
Creating an envelope back closure
Sewing and inserting zips
Adding lining and decorative frills
Sewing boxed corners for 3D structure
Making and threading drawstring ties
Working with curves, interfacing, and different fabrics
Everything is provided for you:
Sewing machine, tools and materials are all included. Just bring yourself!
Tea and coffee are also provided to keep you comfortable while you create.
Work at your own pace in a small group. Julie will guide you step-by-step, so you finish the term with 4 new projects and a toolkit of essential sewing skills.
