Learn to make these gorgeous blue fungi, the Werewere-kokako that feature on our New Zealand $50 note. Created with a variety of stitch techniques including stumpwork, bullion stitch and textured surface work in a small group class with an experienced and friendly tutor. Two full day classes with a week between them so you can really work on your skills without feeling rushed and get plenty of 1:1 class time with the tutor if needed. By the end of the 2 days, you will have your own delightful piece of everlasting forest in a glass cloche, and some valuable skills you can use for your next inspired project.

Your kit will include all the threads, wires, needles, fabric, hoop and your cloche which you can choose to have painted black or leave a natural wood colour. You just need to bring embroidery scissors, and any other embroidery tools you generally use. An embroidery stand is not required but highly recommended, you can order a stand from me if you don’t have one.

This is an intermediate to advanced class for those people wanting to extend some of their known embroidery skills and learn some more along the way. The only requirement is basic embroidery skills PLUS the ability to do bullion stitch. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Tea and coffee provided, we will stop halfway through for lunch, there are plenty of cafes and shops just a few steps from our hub.
