If you have never sewn before, this is the perfect place to start.

In this relaxed, hands-on class you will learn the core skills of sewing in a small, supportive group with tutor Julie. By the end you will understand your machine, know how to choose fabrics, and feel confident to start your own projects.

In this class you will learn:

What is Sewing? The basics of joining fabric and why it’s such a useful creative skill

Basic Sewing Tools – machines, scissors, pins, measuring tape, tailors chalk, markers, needles + thread, and how to choose quality tools

Choosing the Right Fabric – beginner-friendly fabrics like cotton, cotton blends, lawn, denim, canvas + linen

Know Your Machine – threading, winding a bobbin, and understanding key parts: tension dial, stitch selector, presser foot, feed dogs + more

Basic Sewing Machine Stitches – straight, zigzag, reverse + overlock, and when to use them

How to Take Basic Measurements – bust, waist, hip, shoulder, back length, sleeve, bicep + wrist

Sewing Tips – cutting accurately, pinning, and practicing on scraps

Care & Maintenance – how to clean your sewing machine and look after your tools

Come and build your confidence, learn practical sewing skills, and enjoy the process of making.
